Stuttgart, 13.05.2019. The book wholesaler Koch, Neff und Volckmar (KNV) is systematically continuing its course to increase competitiveness following the opening of insolvency proceedings at the beginning of May 2019. As part of the restructuring, KNV plans to completely switch delivery to its customers to transport service providers in the future. The aim of the new transport organization is to eliminate inefficient duplicate structures. Instead of continuing to use its own drivers, in future only external service providers are to be commissioned, who already provide over 90 percent of tours today. The exclusive use of a pure service provider structure, as is common in comparable transport networks, increases flexibility and enables a more uniform and efficient transport network with an improved cost structure. This will ensure the long-term competitiveness of the KNV Group's transportation division.
A new organization of tours and an adjustment of the structure of KNV's transport division finally became necessary after competitor Umbreit recently terminated the joint transport cooperation at the end of April 2019. The complete changeover of delivery at KNV to external service providers is associated with personnel measures. A total of 54 employees will be affected by the planned structural change. The insolvency administrator Tobias Wahl and the management have started talks with the works council about a reconciliation of interests and a social plan. In addition, KNV will support the employees affected by the job cuts in their search for a new job as far as possible. Together with the management, the insolvency administrator and his team are pursuing the goal of positioning the KNV Group in such a way that it can operate robustly and sustainably on the market in the long term.
